Hundreds of elves are at work – that is, employees, school staff and community members – to make the holiday season a little brighter for homeless children in the Rowland Unified School District. The District’s Family Resource Center, which helps families who live in poverty with needed services so their children can be more successful in school, organizes the Adopt N’ Shop Holiday program each year. Now until December 1, people can adopt a child or family and are provided the child’s age, gender, clothing size and toy wish list. On Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Northam Elementary in La Puente, the selected children and families chosen from across the District will delight in taking photos with Santa, holiday food, fun and opening presents.
If a community group, individual or business would like to adopt a child/family, please contact Kathy Rodriguez at the Family Resource Center at (626) 854-2228 or download the form below and return by fax to (626) 854-2229.
“Last year 86 families and 165 children benefitted from this special program,” said Jennifer Kottke, Coordinator of the Family Resource Center. “We truly appreciate all of the support and donations that the community provides to help our local families.”
